General FAQs

What is Home Health Care?

The term “home health care” describes a wide range of health care services that can be provided in your home. There are many reasons why people may need care at home. Some are recovering from surgery, or have a chronic condition or disability that requires ongoing care. Others need certain therapies or could use some assistance with activities of daily living. BAYADA Home Health Care provides these services to children and adults of all ages.

What services does BAYADA offer?

BAYADA Home Health Care offers a broad range of services to clients of all ages in the comfort of their own homes. We provide nursing care for short-term or ongoing care needs, ranging from basic wound care after surgery to complex, high-tech care. Our rehabilitation and therapeutic services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy. We also provide assistive care services that help clients with self-care needs and household tasks so they can continue living independently at home. BAYADA specialty practices include Home Health, Adult Nursing, Assistive Care, Pediatrics, Hospice, and Habilitation.

How are these services paid?

BAYADA coordinates and accepts reimbursement from the largest group of health insurance payors in the country. This includes Medicare, Medicaid, veterans benefits, workers compensation, other government programs, private health insurance, long-term care insurance, auto insurance, and HMOs. We also accept private pay.

Our goal is to give you added peace of mind by simplifying the process. We have reimbursement specialists who can handle all the paperwork for you, contact payors to determine levels of home health coverage, and then bill the appropriate plan directly. We also help in accessing reimbursement from long-term care insurance providers.

How do you ensure I receive excellent care?

Your care is the result of a deep, companywide commitment to meeting the highest professional, ethical, and safety standards. Every BAYADA health care professional is supervised by a registered nurse (RN) clinical manager. At an even higher level, BAYADA maintains our own team of clinical specialists who make regular quality visits across the company to assess care standards and provide education to our managers and care teams. We also voluntarily submit to rigorous quality and safety reviews by Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP).

How do you hire BAYADA caregivers?

BAYADA verifies work history, credentials, and references and performs thorough background checks. Our health care professionals also undergo an in-depth interview process, written testing, and hands-on skills assessments before hire, and annual skills assessments with ongoing training and supervision after hire. They must also demonstrate a commitment to delivering care with compassion, excellence, and reliability—The BAYADA Way.

Are you available 24/7?

Yes. We can provide services up to 24 hours a day and there is always a local on-call manager who can answer your questions and address any concerns after hours. The on-call manager also provides around-the-clock clinical support for your BAYADA care team while they are providing care in the home.

Adult care FAQs

How does home health care work at BAYADA?

First, your BAYADA registered nurse (RN) clinical manager or your BAYADA primary clinician visits you to assess your needs. We work with you, your physician, and your family caregivers to create an individualized plan of care for you. We identify the BAYADA health care professionals whose experience and skills best match your needs. Your RN clinical manager or primary clinician orients your care team to your needs and makes regular in-home supervisory visits. Over time, we continually reassess your needs and update your BAYADA care team’s training accordingly so they can continue to provide you with exceptional care.

Who will be providing my care?

BAYADA caregivers are experienced, compassionate home health care professionals that include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, medical social workers, home health aides, certified nursing assistants, homemakers, companions, and others. We take great care in matching your unique needs with the right BAYADA professional. You also have a team of managers who supervise your clinical care, schedule your services, and ensure your satisfaction.

What kinds of nursing care does BAYADA provide?

Our registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) provide many kinds of services, ranging from very basic recovery care to ongoing and complex high-tech care. Some examples include: wound care, catheter care, cardiac care, and tracheostomy and ventilator care. Depending on your needs, BAYADA can provide nursing care up to 24 hours a day.

What kinds of rehabilitative care and therapies does BAYADA offer?

BAYADA provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy for clients who need to regain strength or functioning after an injury, surgery, or illness, as well as for clients with ongoing therapy needs.

How does BAYADA home health care work?

Who will be providing my child’s care?

BAYADA pediatric caregivers are experienced, compassionate home health care professionals with expertise in caring for children who have met the most rigorous hiring standards in the industry. Your child’s team may include one or more BAYADA Nurses or BAYADA Home Health Aides. We take great care in matching your child’s unique needs with the right BAYADA professionals. What kinds of nursing care does BAYADA Pediatrics provide?

BAYADA pediatric nurses have extensive training specifically with children, from newborns to adolescents. Our pediatric registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) provide services ranging from short-term recovery care to ongoing nursing care and high-tech tracheostomy and ventilator care. Some of our other nursing services include: wound care, catheter care, asthma care, and respiratory treatments. Depending on your child’s needs, BAYADA can provide nursing care up to 24 hours a day.

What is assistive care?

Depending on your child’s specific needs, BAYADA can also provide school-based services such as: daily transportation help on the school bus, taking the student to and from classes, and assisting with assistive care tasks such as toileting and cutting up food. Hospice care FAQs

What is hospice?

Hospice is comprehensive social, medical, and spiritual care that supports patients and their families when an illness no longer responds to curative treatments, or when a patient chooses not to pursue aggressive therapies.

What are the benefits of hospice care?

Hospice improves a patient’s quality of life, provides comfort and dignity, and gives social and emotional support to the patient and loved ones. Hospice also provides respite care, giving family members a rest from caregiving tasks.

Who is eligible for hospice care?

Hospice care is available to patients who have a life expectancy of less than 6 months (as determined by their physician).

What services does BAYADA Hospice offer?

BAYADA offers hospice services that meet a range of medical and non-medical needs, including nursing care, medication, medical equipment, counseling, self-care assistance, household support, companionship, and other services. In addition to supporting patients and families, we can also provide grief counseling for friends and others who need support.

How are hospice services paid?

Medicare beneficiaries who have a life expectancy of less than six months (as determined by their physician) are eligible for the Medicare Hospice Benefit. Medicaid and other insurances may also include hospice benefits. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay.

Where can I receive hospice services?

BAYADA Hospice provides care not only in a patient’s home, but also in nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities.

Does BAYADA provide hospice services in my area?

BAYADA Hospice currently provides services in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania, and will soon be providing care in other states.

Is BAYADA Hospice affiliated with any religion?
